On June 22, a public lecture titled "Rehabilitation You Can’t Ask About Anymore" was held at the Kanazawa Student Community Exchange Center. A total of eight participants, ranging in age from high school students to individuals in their 80s, attended the event.

Professor Masami Yokokawa from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, explained that “rehabilitation is the process by which individuals with some form of physical functional decline regain their right to live in a human-like manner—physically, mentally, and socially—by maximizing their remaining abilities.” She also clarified the differences between physical therapy and occupational therapy. Furthermore, she demonstrated how impaired seated posture due to injury can make it difficult to transition to a standing position. A practical demonstration was conducted to simulate such cases, followed by an exchange of opinions with participants regarding rehabilitation experiences in daily life. In closing, she discussed the importance of a multidisciplinary team-based medical care system and highlighted recent advancements in robotic rehabilitation technologies.

One participant commented, “I would like to see and try out the assistive devices mentioned in the occupational therapy segment.”
